Today we proudly launch SOARCA, an open and extensible SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation and Response) tool that was developed by TNO for research and innovation purposes. SOARCA is the world’s first open source security orchestration tool that conforms to the CACAOv2.0 standard for security playbooks (as recently released by OASIS). It comes with native http(s), SSH and OpenC2 capabilities to interact with external tools and data resources. These native capabilities can be extended via an open interface, allowing developers to compile additional integrations according their needs. SOARCA is a natural complement to ROASTER, the open source playbook editor that was recently released by University of Oslo. Combined, they form an open-source toolset for the creation and execution of CACAOv2 security playbooks. We hope that the availability of such practical tools will contribute to the uptake of CACAOv2 as a security playbook standard and support SOC and CSIRT professionals in their pursuit of automated cybersecurity operations.
